Welcome to my blog. The majority of the posts on here will be about politics, religion, and culture. In other words, this is probably not a safe blog to read in a bar. If you knew me in high school or college and have not seen me since then, you may find yourself surprised by the views expressed on here. My political views in high school and college were much more liberal than they are now. During the latter part of college and the first years immediately following graduation, I experienced a “reversion” of sorts to the Catholic faith and came to accept my Church’s teachings on marriage, contraception, abortion, and end-of-life issues.
Nevertheless, my political worldview is, in my opinion, hard to put into a precise category. Therefore, I hesitate to identify with any particular party and don’t even like to refer to myself as an “independent.” That is the main reason that I refer to my perspective as “eclectic” in this site’s tagline.
Regarding my faith, I want to make it very clear that I recognize the authority of the Roman Pontiff and my local bishops. I also want to state that while I respect their views on matters of prudential judgment, I will likely express disagreement with those views when I feel the situation calls for it.
Although my blog will not revolve around these, the two primary catalysts that served as “tipping points” for my decision to start it were the following:
–My disappointment at how “late to the party” the Right (specifically Breitbart) was in admitting that Sacha Baron Cohen’s brand of humor is, for the most part, condescending and unfunny; and
–My disappointment at the Left’s failure to recognize the Orwellian and Mengeleian implications of their begging President Obama to emasculate a gay man who they believed had exposed war crimes.
As you can see, there will be enough here to trigger a variety of readers because:
–I am not a Sacha Baron Cohen fan;
–I did not refer to Chelsea Manning as a “dirty rotten traitor”; and
–I did refer to Chelsea Manning as a man.
So if you are willing to stick around at this point, please read on.
Verso l’alto,
Megan
